HARC RECEIVES GRANT FROM THE FOX 61 FAMILY FUND

 HARTFORD, CT      JULY 2006          The Greater Hartford Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. (HARC) has received a grant totaling $89,300 from Fox 61 Family Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, through its United Partners Campaign (UPC).

 HARC was selected to be one of several eligible organizations participating in Fox 61 Family Fund 2006 Spring United Partners Campaign. This campaign allows supporters of non-profit organizations to make a tax-deductible contribution to Fox 61 Family Fund that will earn a match of up to 40 percent from the McCormick Tribune Foundation and to recommend their contribution on the match support eligible agencies, such as HARC.

 According to Jennifer Meligonis-DeJohn, Director of Development at HARC, “We were so pleased to have this opportunity to give to our supporters.”

Fox 61 Family Fund is dedicated to supporting programs that have a long-term, positive impact on children and youth and that strengthen Connecticut’s families.

 The Greater Hartford Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. (HARC), was formed in 1951 by parents of children with mental retardation. HARC remains true to its mission of helping people with mental retardation and their families enjoy lives of quality, inclusion and dignity by providing support, education and advocacy. 
HARC currently serves over 800 people a day in a wide array of programs and runs 11 group homes and condominiums and 8 supported living arrangements in the Greater Hartford area.
