HARC helps people with intellectual disability and their families enjoy lives of quality, inclusion and dignity by providing support, education, and advocacy.

HARC was founded in 1951 by a small group of parents whose mission was to address the challenges of intellectual disability. Years ago, when a child was identified as having intellectual disability, he or she was almost always referred to an institution. There were few, if any, programs or services available to help the child living at home.

Elderly Services - Life Enrichment Program

HARC's Life Enrichment Program (LEP) provides services that focus on physical restoration, volunteerism, and recreation.  The program is designed to enhance the lives of our retired citizens who are 55 years and over.  Volunteer opportunities include working at libraries, the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, et al.  We integrate our programs with other senior citizen program to maximize use of available community resources.

Our facilities are fully accessible and include program modules, lunchroom, outdoor space, meeting rooms, and offices.  Careful attention is given to the personal care requirements of our senior citizens.  Special staff assists clients in areas requiring personal care.  Private changing rooms, showers, and laundry are available.

Transportation

HARC provides individual travel training from home to our headquarters and/or to the job location.  Transportation from home is provided on a limited basis, and only if the individual is unable to travel independently or benefit from travel training.  Transportation is generally available from HARC to job sites.
