Have a Harc Day

February 13, 2026 Legislative Office Building

Join us, with our community partner Lumibility at the CT State LOB to advocate for the importance of supporting people of all abilities.

Hosted this year by State Representative Jillian Gilchrest, Have a Harc Day brings together Harc individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), their families, and supporters at the Connecticut State Legislative Office Building for a day of advocacy and connection. This meaningful event highlights Harc’s mission while engaging policymakers, who hear firsthand about the impact that funding and supportive policies have on individuals with IDD and their families.

Why Valentine’s Day? We choose on or around Valentine’s Day to emphasize the heart behind our mission and the importance of compassionate support for people of all abilities. Have a Harc Day is a day of both advocacy and love—love for community, inclusion, and a brighter future for everyone. Since February 14th falls on a Saturday this year, our event will take place on Friday, February 13th.

What Happens on Have a Harc Day? Have a Harc Day offers participants the opportunity to:

  • Meet and engage with Connecticut legislators who shape policies impacting the IDD community
  • Share personal stories that illustrate the importance of access, funding, and inclusive opportunities
  • Stand together with family members, staff, and advocates to amplify the voices of individuals with IDD

Join us at the Hartford Yard Goats Dunkin' Park for Harc's annual Walk N' Roll event. Come together on Harc's 75th year anniversary with the Harc community for a day filled with games, activities, snacks, and more, to celebrate people of all abilities!

We are excited to announce that the "Good News Guy", philanthropist and dear Harc friend, Keith McGilvery will be our Emcee and host for the fourth year in a row! Registration is free, and there will be fun for all ages and abilities.

When you register, you'll have the opportunity to create a fundraising team or donate to an existing team to further Harc's mission during our annual Walk N' Roll event. By creating a team fundraiser you'll be able to mobilize your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to help the Harc community.
